Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys
|
Delahaye International Trading sources and supplies Aluminium and Aluminium alloys to the South African and African Markets.
Aluminium is the most widely used non-ferrous metal and is almost always alloyed, which markedly improves its mechanical properties, especially when tempered. It is used as pure metal only when corrosion resistance and/or workability is more important than strength or hardness. The main alloying agents are copper, zinc, magnesium, manganese and silicon and the levels of these other metals are in the range of a few percent by weight.
Due to its versatility, aluminium is used in numerous applications and sectors. Aluminium alloys with their wide range of properties are used in engineering structures. Alloy systems are classified by a number system (ANSI) or by names indicating their main alloying constituents (DIN and ISO). Selecting the right alloy for a given application entails considerations of its tensile strength, density, ductility, form-, work-, weld- ability and corrosion resistance, to name but a few.
Should you require more information or technical assistance on any of our aluminium or aluminium alloys, please do not hesitate to contact us.
